"Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a fucking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly. Incuriousness has become cool...It's celebrated. It doesn't make sense to me." - Jon Hamm in the latest issue of Elle UK
I love his use of the word "incuriousness." He's absolutely spot-on with his observation. We're even seeing this staunch incuriousness with current Republican candidate Rick Santorum, who appears to be the most stubbornly ignorant person to ever campaign for president (and that's really saying something).
Sometimes, it can be tempting to abandon any attempt to do something intelligent or meaningful. To myself and all my friends who are trying to put out words and images that don't simply appeal to society's lowest common denominator, don't stop. It's worth the effort.
No amount of Kardashian or Hilton money could make being a dumb ass tolerable.
This concludes today's pep talk to myself.
